LIBERATION MOVEMENT:MY ORDEAL IN THE HAND OF THE OPPRESSORS (1)

Whatever God reserves for an individual will definitely get to him no
matter the level of intimidation.
It is imperative to set the record straight as to what prompted
convening the much discussed LIBERATION MOVEMENT, for the people not
to be misguided and for them to know the essence of the movement.
Some years back, there was a circulated publication across the media
houses about recruitment into Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) which is opened to all indigenous people of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria in as much as the criteria for the recruitment
into any cadre are met.
I was advised as an holder of NCE certificate to apply for the
recruitment and i heed the advise -who knows when the deprived
opportunity will come- upon discovering that i met the criteria set
for a certain cadre in the commission.
It will interest you to know that as at the time of the recruitment, I
was living on a salary earning from working as a classroom teacher in
one popular secondary school in my community. I started gathering my
credentials and began to applied for the ones not available spending
continuously from my hard earned salary until i exhausted all the
money in my reserve, not just that alone, even need to borrow money
from a friend.
After i had compiled all the required documents after much rigorous
spending, I was to pack my application in a file and submit to someone
who will in turn make sure it gets to the commission office in Abuja.
Not forgetting that the same man was working for someone who was
willing to help to ensure that those of us who applied through him are
considered for the job - that is peculiar to our nation anyway - after
the processes involved.
Maybe i should inform you that i was not the only one who applied but
with some other known people from my community. Then i began to
suspect a foul play when i brought the file to the Man designated to
collect it from me, when he told me it was late for submission already
when I have read in the media that it remained some days to the
deadline only to be contacted back the next day that i could still
submit my application.
I didn't realize that i had been oppressed in the first instance when
the other applicants received invitation messages to the recruitment
screening for the fact that i know segregation is always the situation
in Nigeria. Then came another invitation and that was when i
discovered that of all those of us that applied in my community, I was
the only one that did not received the invitation message to the
screening.
It was later that i was made to realize that everybody whose
application was submitted are meant to pass through the screenings. I
did not still understand the message just as i was wondering what was
the situation.
Then i got detailed information from an area brother who also got to
know about my ordeal from one of our conversations which made him to
requested for my names. He took it upon himself to find out what was
the cause only to discovered that my application was kept under the
carpet from the beginning and was not among the ones forwarded to the
commission headquarters.
He revealed what and who worked against my application citing my
refusal to join the ruling party as the source of it all when actually
i was even not a member of any political party. He concluded by
advising me not to take it to the heart as nobody knows what God has
kept in reservation for me.
I appreciated his involvement and since then made up my mind to fight
against injustice and one sided treatment in any capacity i find
myself, and that could be deduced from how i managed the previous
posts i have held.
People regardless of their political or religious affiliation are
meant to have access to common opportunities as may be made available
by the government at any level or else someone like me will fight the
injustice with any available means knowing that an injury to one is an
injury to all.
