The Osogbo Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has charged the newly sworn-in Osun State Commissioner for Women Children and social Affairs, Barr Olaboopo Olubukola and other legal practitioners who were appointed into the cabinet of the Osun State government, to bring their training as legal practitioners and the ethics of the legal profession to bear while discharging responsibilities of their offices.
The NBA gave this advice in a congratulatory message to the new commissioners, signed by the Association’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seun Peter Ogundari which was made available to news men yesterday.
The NBA noted the sterling qualities of the new Commissioner for Women, Children and social Affairs as well as Hon. Nathaniel Agunbiade, Hon. Folorunso Bamisayemi, Mr Oluwafemi Akande and other legal practitioners who made the governor's team and urged them to exhibit the nobility which the legal profession is known for.
‘’There is no doubt that the legal practitioners will do Osun State and Nigeria proud if they remain their professional selves on the political turf. We expect them to lead and contribute meaningfully to the search for an equitable administration of justice system in Osun State and by extension, in Nigeria.’’
‘’It is the hope of NBA, Osogbo Branch that the coming on board will bring about the much desired dawn of new era in the state's justice sector especially in exploring ways to ensure quick, efficient and affordable access to justice in the state. The court facilities in the state are in dire need of attention, just as absence of rent tribunals needs to be addressed. We are confident and hope that the new commissioner, particularly the lawyers among them, will not let us down.”
While wishing the new commissioners divine guidance and overall successes as they join the governor to paddle the state's affairs for the greatest good of the greatest number of our people, the NBA Osogbo Branch promises its unalloyed support as long as the cabinet men and women hold aloft the lamp of justice to all manner of people while making decisions that affect the welfare of the masses."
