Workers’ welfare, paramount to Oyetola – Olamiju, S.A Public Health

The Special Adviser to State of Osun Governor on Public Health, Dr Olasiji Olamiju has charged all the staffs in the State to render more services than they did, in 2020.

Olamiju gave the charge in Osogbo at the social welfare end of the year party at the Ministry of Health conference room, yesterday.

He reiterated that Governor Oyetola's commitment to continue payment of full salaries to workers as well as clearing the backlog arrears as the economy improves.

His words: “When Governor Oyetola took over government, he made it a priority to put public servants' welfare first and he pledged to ensure that all levels of workers get their salaries in full.

“We have been in government for a year and three weeks now and barring external circumstances, we have not missed any of our salary obligations. Yet, there is no increase in the allocation we got from the Federal government.

“This decision has taken a major strain on our State finances with us dedicating a higher percentage of our net inflow on salaries. While alot has also been achieved in roads infrastructure, Education, commerce, agriculture and other sectors in just a year.

"I would be remiss if I failed to mention the milestones achieved in health and with priority attention placed on the rehabilitation, renovation and revitalization of 322 primary health care centers currently on-going across the state, one per ward. The upgrading and expansion of nine general hospitals is also nearing completion.

"I therefore challenge everyone of you to work harder in 2020 as Mr Governor is committed to improving on your welfare as our income improves.

"I wish you all a merry Christmas and prosperous new year in advance, and pray that the years ahead will be more rewarding for us all", Olamiju concluded.
