Osun Government To Empower 500 Women Every Quarter Of The Year - Olaboopo

State of Osun Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barrister Olubukola Olaboopo has assured womenfolk in the State that at least 500 indigent women would be empowered through a regular quarterly vocational training that would be fully sponsored by the State.  She added that before the end of the year, 2000 women in the State would have been trained and set up.

This assertion was made when she granted press men an interview in her office in Osogbo. She mentioned that a similar exercise was done by the wife of the Governor, Her Excellency, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola recently, when she empowered over 1000 women who are into agriculture by giving them seedlings and financial assistance.

Olaboopo while highlighting some of the achievements recorded by the ministry in the last 90 days, said no stone will be left unturned in making sure women in the state are economically liberated.

Speaking on the menace of rape, domestic violence and other forms of oppression against women, the Commissioner beseeched women in the State to speak out, anytime they are violated reiterating that the State Government is ever ready to fight their cause.

The Commissioner highlighted some of the activities of her ministry to include a sensitization walk for the elimination of violence against women, a lecture organized for women across the State for the commemoration of the  International Human Rights Day.

She mentioned that the ministry intend to look into working on gender participation in sports, fortification of women who are into SMEs, launching aggressive campaigns against harmful and repugnant practices, regular sensitization programs, launching of Children Parliament, launching of teenage centred campaigns and children friendly programs amongst others.

She thanked women in the State for their support of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration while she assured them of government support at all times.
