Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Monday ordered the immediate reopening of Baptist Government High School, Osogbo for academic activities weeks after it was shut down as a result of unruly behaviour by some students that led to a riot.
In a statement released in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin, the Governor explained that the decision followed the appeal from Stakeholders and leaders of thought convinced that the students have learnt their lessons and are remorseful over the unruly behaviour that led to the riot and subsequently the closure of the school last year.
Oyetola appealed to parents and guardians to properly monitor and guide their wards to a rewarding future.

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has charged Nigerians to be patriotic and eschew anything capable of undermining the peaceful coexistence, national integration and territorial integrity of the country.
This is even as the chairman, Osun State Chapter, Nigerian Legion, Comrade Oladimeji Olalere, commended the administration for being supportive to the State chapter of the Nigerian Legion, describing the gesture as unprecedented in the history of the state.
The duo spoke on Tuesday at the official launch of the Year 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Emblem and Appeal Fund, held at the Government House, Osogbo.
Aregbesola Lauds Oyetola's Performance
The immediate past governor of the State of Osun and current Nigerian Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has commended his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola, over his good performance as Governor of the State, describing him as "a cerebral man".
Aregbesola gave the commendation on Thursday during a courtesy call on the Governor in his office in Abere, Osogbo.
The former governor said he was highly impressed to see the transformation that has taken place in Osun in continuation of the good works started during his administration as governor in the state.
Insecurity: Oyetola Tasks Security Personnel on Loyalty, Integrity
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has called on all security agents in Nigeria to remain committed, loyal and demonstrate a high level of integrity in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
He made the call on Friday at the opening ceremony of a two-day strategic retreat organised by the Ministry of Interior, held in Ilesa. Oyetola urged them to regard their commitment to service as an act of rescuing the country from negative consequences of security negligence which could adversely affect all citizens, including their family members.
Osun Govt Warns Against Use of Paracetamol to Tenderise Meat, Bleach to Process Garri
The State Government of Osun has warned caterers and food vendors in the state to stop the dangerous act of using paracetamol to tenderise meat and also the use of ‘hypo’, a bleaching detergent for cassava processing to induce ‘whiteness of fufu and gaari.’
The warning was issued in Osogbo at a joint news conference addressed by the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode and the Special Adviser on Public Health to the Governor, Pharmacist Siji Olamiju.
The officials disclosed that the dangerous trend in public health was recently uncovered by the state public health surveillance volunteers who were assigned to visit primary health centres across the state.
Oyetola Pledges Commitment to Success of Amotekun
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has pledged his government's commitment to ensure the success of the Western Nigeria security Network (WNSN) codenamed “Amotekun” jointly established by the six states of the South-West to tackle insecurity in the region.
He added that the launch of the joint security service is a proof that the security and welfare of the people are paramount to the governors in the region.
Governor Oyetola who was represented by his Deputy Mr. Benedict Alabi at the launch on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State noted that part of the commitment of his administration was the designation of the Olajokun Park situated along Ibadan-Ife expressway as the operational base for Amotekun which has been renovated and well equipped.
