COVID-19 : Bukola Oyewo, Message Constituent, As he Distributes Relief Materials To The Vulnerable.

Without doubt, the most unpleasant crisis that has put, not only Nigeria but also the whole world in disarray and petrification is the Coronavirus ravaging lives and threatening our existence. There is no doubt that many people in the country have been infected with this highly communicable disease.

We are at this critical period dazed as to know the path through which the solution to the problem lies, apart from taking precautionary measures as advised by medical experts.

Good people of my constituency, I want to urge you to abide by the directives of the state government led by Gov. Gboyega Oyetola to stay at home in order to curtail the spread of the virus. The virus is better fought when we maintain social distancing, personal hygiene and avoid using hands in covering our noses while sneezing and adhering to related advisories from the NCDC. Handshakes should be avoided as much as possible.

Few days ago, some of our sons and daughters that returned from Ivory Coast tested positive to Coronavirus. The swift and proactive actions of our responsive and responsible Governor is highly commendable as this will immensely curtail further spread.

It is no longer news that Osun has joined the league of states with the highest number of Coronavirus cases, as of yesterday. This is worrisome, but we are being consoled with the fact that this will soon become a thing of the past. My thoughts and prayers are with the infected people to speedily recover from their ailment.

It is important to inform you that testing positive for Coronavirus is not a death sentence!

As you must have been aware, many of those who previously tested positive, have thereafter been treated, and discharged from hospitals. This incontestably justifies the assertion that being tested positive is not a death warrant. However, I am very hopeful and prayerful that none of us shall test positive to COVID-19, any longer.

As part of preventive measures, we have randomly distributed sanitizers among my people. We have also commenced random distribution of food items to my constituents as palliatives for the wise and necessary lockdown.

Also, it will be pertinent to inform you that, at the national level, all members of the House of Representatives have unanimously agreed to assist the federal government in its bid to mitigate the hardship this situation has brought on Nigerians, by donating 100 percent of our two months salaries.

Finally, I implore you to remain calm and be law-abiding.

I pray for God's protection over everyone of us throughout this period and beyond. May God protect the State of Osun. May God protect Nigeria as a whole.
