In furtherance of the State Government's commitment to the protection of Children's rights and well being in the state of Osun, the Honourable Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barr. Rianat Olubukola Olaboopo paid a consolidation visit to the Orangun of Ile-Ila, Oba Abdul-Wahab Oyedotun Bibire 1 at his Palace.
The Honourable Commissioner who had in her entourage, the Honourable representing Ila State Constituency, Hon. Jaye Lateef Adebisi and the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Pharm. Omolara Ajayi, mentioned that the visit was to officially bring to the monarch's notice reports of child rape, Assault and molestation which is becoming incessant within in the jurisdiction.
Barr. Olaboopo stated that in very recent times, the Ministry has worked on a number of rape cases from Ila which is very disheartening.
She urged the Monarch to use everything within his capacity to fish out the bad eggs in the town noting that Ila Orangun is notable for very many beautiful exploits.
She beseeched the monarch to be tough on miscreants who are bent on tarnishing the good name of the ancient town.
Dr. Mrs. Adeola Faleye who is the yeye Asa of Ila and who was also on the entourage of the Honourable Commissioner, urged the Kabiesi to call town hall meetings in order to enlighten and educate the people of the town on the consequences of such evil engagements.
While responding, Oba Abdul-Wahab Oyedotun appreciated the Honourable Commissioner for her proactive actions thus far in offering government assistance to victims and in bringing the culprits to book.
He mentioned that he has always been tough on criminal perpetrators but would do even more. He condemned the heinous acts in totality and promised to collaborate with government in purging the town of evil elements.
High Chief Obajoko buttressed the monarch by saying that the welfare of her people is going to be their priority and they will embark on series of sensitization and awareness campaigns and meetings.
The Honourabe member representing Ila at the state House of Assembly Hon. Lateef Adebisi lauded the State Government for keeping as priority, the welfare of the citizens, he pledged assistance, cooperation and support for the government on behalf of the good people of Ila Orangun.
Other dignitaries in the company of Commissioner included the ministry's director of Social welfare, Mrs. Mosadomi, deputy director, Social Welfare, Mr. Akande and the Zonal Social welfare officer Ikirun/ Ila Zone, Mr. Adeoti.
