Osun Amotekun, JTF, Arrests 14 illegal Miners... 10 Chinese, 1 Ghanaian, 3 Locals.


Ten expatriates, including 9 chinese and 1 Ghanaian as well as three locals were today arrested during an operation carried out by Amotekun corps, state of Osun, in collaboration with the State Joint Task Force, JTF  at 4 illegal mining sites in Osun.

The illegal sites were located at Itagunmodi, Igun and Ariye 1&2, all in Atakunmosa West local government area of the state.

The operation that lasted two hours was carried out following a tip off from members of the public.

Speaking with newsmen after the operation, the Director General, Amotekun corps, state of Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, said it was part of the commitment of Governor ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA administration to rid the state of economic saboteurs.

Comrade Amitolu Shittu commended the JTF comprising Nigerian Army, Air force, Navy, Police, DSS, NSCDC and Immigration for their cooperation with Amotekun corps to make the operation a success.

It would recalled that a similar operation was carried out earlier this month by Amotekun Osun in collaboration with the JTF leading to the arrest of 27 illegal miners then, including 17 chinese, 10 local with a local chief among them.
