Members of the Osun Patriotic Writers have expressed their commitment to developmental journalism and adequate dissemination of information on happenings in Nigeria and Osun in particular.
The media volunteers also assured of their avowed determination to rebrand social media through the dissemination of prompt, accurate, credible and factual information.
They said this on Wednesday shortly after their monthly meeting in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Coordinator of the group, Abdul-lateef Usman, said the team sprang up in view of the distortion and palpable pollution that had beclouded the core values of social media in the world.
He maintained that members of the group had demonstrated high sense of commitment to achieve the set objectives in line with the vision and mission of the group.
Usman reiterated the group's resolve to eliminate propaganda, falsehood, acrimony and character assassination on social media.
The group's Coordinator further noted that agenda had been set to promote good governance, quality leadership and people-oriented representation in the state and beyond.
While disclosing the readiness of the team to project the developmental strides of the government, Usman said "we are not for frivolity but rather advocate of good governance and impactful leadership".
He said the group would continue to midwife by availing the residents of the state the much needed information on the effects of policies and programmes of government.
He therefore called on members of the group to always abide by the guiding membership rules and reflect same in their actions and inactions.
