The Government of the State of Osun has called on the Association of Tailors in the State to rise to the occasion of producing face masks in large quantities to meet the needs of the people, now that it is compulsory to wear masks in public throughout the state in order to curb the spread of covid 19.
This was made known by the Commissioner for commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun during a meeting held with the Executives of the Association of Nigerian Tailors, Osun state chapter in his office recently .
Responding, the National President, Mr Moses Ige thanked the Governor for the sensitisation and requested that the Government should assist them by giving them materials for sewing or grant them financial assistance to be able to accomplish the task as most of them have exhausted their capital on feeding of their families during the Lockdown.
The Commissioner advised the Association to source for money through their cooperative societies as everyone knows that there is paucity of funds in the state.
He however promised to present their request to the Governor.
Present at the meeting were members of the association, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce , Industry Cooperatives and Empowerment , Chief Mrs Sola Ogunfolaju, the Coordinating Director, Mr Olajide Fadugba , Director Commerce and other management staff of the Ministry.
