The annual Egungun Festival which is one of process of showing that the annual Osun Osogbo Festival is around the corner is Masquerade festival, where the Masquerades from all the Masquerade compounds in Osogbo will come out to dance in the palace and pray for peace and tranquility of Osogbo, State of Osun and Nigeria at large hold today, the festival which is not hold like the way it used to be before the coronavirus pandemic which has affected social gathering, the festival was done indoor in order to comply with the directives of the government of the state, the Ataoja of Osogbo, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, who comply with the guidelines of the state government and the Federal Government by avoiding any social gathering in the palace and Osogbo, the Ataoja who led his chiefs to perform all the necessary sacrifice to keep the state capital safe against any form Calamities.
In Ataoja words, "I want to urge the good people of Osogbo to avoid social gathering for now in order to follow the guidelines and directives of the state government against coronavirus pandemic that is affecting the world, If you look at it, you will see that the Masquerade festival that hold today in osogbo is not like the previous ones, it become necessary to hold the festival indoor due to the situations of things this time around and not to disobey the government directives against coronavirus pandemic, all the necessary sacrifice and prayers has been perform by me and my Chiefs in order to keep Osogbo safe against any form of calamity, all the residents of Osogbo should go on their normal businesses and they should comply with all the government directives in order to keep, osogbo, state of osun and our country safe against this dreaded COVID-19 pandemic." Ataoja Said.
