Osun Enlarges The Coverage Of The Toll Free: Now Covers Child Molestation & Gender Based Violence Reports

Touched by the frequency of rape cases and child molestations, the Ministry of Women, Children & Social Affairs has collaborated with the Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology to eradicate children &gender based offences.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs paying an on the spot assessment and sensitization visit to the call centre. She was received by her colleague in the Ministry of Innovation & Technology, Prince Olatunde Olawale, who took her round the facility and explained that the centre has the capacity to answer well over 50 calls at the same time. The centre runs 24hours and speaks all the major languages in the country including the fulani language.
Barr. Olaboopo while addressing the officers at the call centre emphasized that the welfare of the citizenry is the priority of the government and added that arriving at the technical collaboration was a result of critical thinking. She urged the call centre staff to discharge their duties effectively.

The Commissioner for Innovation, Science & Technology while assuring Barr. Olaboopo of effective service delivery from the call centre staff, urged the people to seize the opportunity of the collaboration.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs urges the citizens to feel free to report all cases of child abuse, child rape, child molestations and gender based abuses/violence on the toll free line 293 assuring them they will be promptly attended to, she mentioned other government actions at discouraging the popular menace as including the opening of the sexual & gender offence register which will carry the rapist's name, photographs and other biodata.

On the entourage of the Honourable Commissioner were the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. Omolara Ajayi, and the Director Social welfare services, Mrs. Hannah Mosadomi.
