The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr.Bode Olaonipekun disclosed this during a meeting held with the Stakeholders on E-Commerce/ Digital Economy recently in his office.
Dr. Olaonipekun stated that ,the establishment of electronic commerce platform is to kick start digital economy in the state; saying that,the vision is to achieve a means through which a digital economy can begin and expected outcome is to have electronic based commodity market where things would be operated seamlessly.
He explained that,E - Commerce would offer business a whole range of opportunities,from marketing opportunities to increasing products ranges as well as generating more revenue both for Stakeholders and the government.
Speaking further, the Commissioner described the move as a way to promote and showcase proudly osun grown products as well as eradicate communication gap that do exist between the sellers and the buyers.
According to him, the E- Commerce platform would be a section under the Department of Commerce and Investment Promotion in the Ministry.
Also, the Director of Commerce and Investment Promotion, Mrs. Ajibola Falode appreciated the Stakeholders and seeks for their support to have a vibrant and well established E- commerce Department in the State.
In attendance were the representatives of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sterling Bank, Keystone Bank, First Bank of Nigeria, Jaiz Bank, Unity Bank, Ecobank, First City Monument Bank, Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, Osun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Bank of Industry, Osun Micro-Credit Agency, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of information, Science and Technology and Human Resources and Capacity Building.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun met with intervention team on Post Covid-19 Strategies to perfect the arrangement for the launching.
