This time indeed is a season of endorsements. To this extent, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has presented a unique birthday present to the state Governor Gboyega Oyetola, his endorsement for the second term of the Ijesa-North Federal Constituency chapter of the party.
The state chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who disclosed this in his goodwill message at a dinner for the 66th birthday anniversary for Governor Oyetola at the Osun Government House on Tuesday in Osogbo stated this that the surprised governorship birthday gift was one of those earlier made by the other federal constituencies making up the state.
Famodun hinted that what made the Chief Emiola Ogunsanya-led Ijesa-North Federal Constituency APC endorsement unique was its coincidence with the birthday of the governor that same day which was earlier on unanimously made at the Ijebu-Jesha Town Hall which was filled to capacity by party faithful.
He explained that there was a mock assembly where the endorsement was made amidst cutting of the birthday cake under his chairmanship, the traditional rulers and the representative of the governor on the occasion, Hon Ajibola Famurewa who doubles as the Director-General of Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Group and Chairman of SUBEB.
The state party chairman explained to the governor further that one thing that was also unique and special in some of the federal constituencies has been that even in disagreement, they are all in support of the second-term bid of the governor.
The state APC party administrator disclosed that Governor Oyetola's second term ticket was assured as there won't be any untoward incident like the recent Edo State unsavoury experience where the crisis associated with the governorship primary was the foundation of its misfortune in that state.
Earlier at the endorsement venue in Ijebu-Jesha, the chairman had noted that: "It is not common for traditional rulers to grace this type of occasion as the galaxy of Obas and other eminent personalities are here present.
"I am appealing to leaders and members of our party to be mindful of their political footsteps because of Edo State experience in the interest of our party.
"With his endorsements right, left and centre coupled with his glaring ingenious developmental strides across the state, it is not an over-statement to submit that Governor Oyetola is God-sent.
"There can't be a birthday bash with its accompanied second-term present that can be greater than this. "Four years cannot be enough for any governor to conclude his projects. I am making this passionate appeal from the bottom of my heart to those bickering party leaders and members to bury their hatchet and allow the party to forge ahead and continue our party operation in amity and cooperation in the overall interest of the fortune of the party.
"It wasn't our making that our governor won the last election but God's arrangements. Let's be watchful. Don't let us lose anybody. Everybody is useful and needed in politics and politicking. Politics is a joint project and a chain duty. Let there be peace and harmony as no side can do it alone. The bickering ones should forget about the past. My second term duty is to enable Governor Oyetola to have a hitch-free second term ticket and successfully run his two terms.
"We shall continue to have a mutual beneficial platform for the angry members and leaders of our party for a unity of purpose and common political goal. That's why we are there and I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that laughter will surely replace any damage that might have been done with prayers and intensive peace-making efforts".
In his own speech, Chief Emiola Ogunsanya, the Apex APC Leader in Ijesa-North Federal Constituency was full of praises to Governor Oyetola over his developmental projects being spread across the state which neccesistate his canvass for additional four years for his administration.
Earlier, the leader of the APC in Ijesa-land, Hon Kunle Odeyemi, had tasked traditional rulers in the area to help settle any wrangling among the political class of progressive extraction in the zone in the interest of its continuous development.
The Apex leader of the APC in Obokun and deputy Apex Leader in Obokun/Oriade Federal constituency, Chief JMK Ogunkeyede; State Commissioner for Lands, Barr Nathaniel Agunbiade; Hon Famurewa; state Commissioner for political matter and intergovernmental affairs, Hon Taiwo Akeju who all spoke glowingly in turns harped on the need for permanent peace in the APC in the federal constituency with a collective need for the return of Governor Oyetola for second term as a performing governor.
Members of the mock parliament that formally made the second term motion for Oyetola and Famodun are Hon Agunbiade who served as the Speaker of the House while Hon Oluwatomilayo Aloba and Hon Bosun Oyintiloye were the floor members who moved the motion with its secondment to the unanimous acceptance and admiration of the members.
Other political dignitaries at the event are Hon Muyiwa Ige, former Commissioner for Lands; Hon Festus Agunbiade, former SA Agriculture; the D-G BOSS, Alhaji Moshadek Oluawo; Hon Richard Tinubu; Hon Lekan Odediran; Chief Owoeye S.A.; Prince Olalekan Olashoore; Hon Banjo Otegbayo; Hon Obeisun Olubunmi, Oriade Council chairman; Prince Ademola Adeyeye and all the eminent traditional rulers from the constituency were also in attendance at the Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency APC endorsement programme for Governor Oyetola's second term exercise.
