As part of efforts geared towards touching the lives of vulnerable women most especially women who have experienced Gender Based Violence, the Nigerian Governors' Wives Forum Against Gender Based Violence (NGWA- GBV), under the leadership of Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has put smiles on the faces of two women in the Osun State who were victims of Gender Based Violence.
While speaking at the presentation of cash gift to the 2 beneficiaries in her office, Government House Oke Fia, the wife of the Governor of the State of Osun Her Excellency Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, said the wives of Nigeria Governors are doing everything in making sure that GBV is reduced to zero in Nigeria. And their mission is to encourage and fight for women in the nation.
"We need to restore hope and sense of belonging to victims of Gender Based Violence by empowering and giving them succour and we will not relent in our humanitarian services to our people" she concluded.
In her remarks the Honourable Commissioner for Women, Children and Social affairs, State of Osun, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo commended the wife of the Governor, for being passionate, caring and a loving mother of the State.
She appreciated the Nigeria Governors' Wives Forum for the innovation in putting smiles on Gender Based Violence victims in the society.
" I urge you to judiciously use the cash gift by investing wisely, the Ministry will pay unscheduled visit to your business premises from time to time to know how you are faring". She added.
In their separate remarks, the beneficiaries, Mrs. Elizabeth Akanbi and Mrs. Margaret Obaloluwa, who could not hide their feelings appreciated the First Lady and the Governors' Wives Forum for extending their hand of fellowship to them, they prayed and wished Governor Gboyega Oyetola a successful tenure in office.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of gift to the beneficiaries.
Also at the occasion were the Wives of top Government functionaries and members of staff of the State's Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs.
