Osun Gov Pledges Continuous Support To MSMEs ...Says the State is Economically Endowed with Great Potentials.

 


Osun Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has said that his administration will continue to support Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to improve business operations in the state.


The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun made the pledge at the 32nd Enugu International Trade Fair, held at the Enugu International Trade Center Complex, Golf Estate, GRA, Enugu.


The Commissioner, who spoke at the special Osun Day Programme said, it is a new dawn in Osun as "the state is ready for business", apparently referring to the slogan which was derived from the Osun Economic Investment Summit convoked in November 2019, where the entire world converged in Osogbo, the State Capital to see and hear what Osun has that can make the difference. 


Dr. Olaonipekun stressed that the state is naturally endowed with solid minerals which range from gold, iron and several other solid minerals, which await exploration and investors to take on. 


The Commissioner boasted that there is virtually no local government in the state that is not endowed with at least 15 agro natural resources in commercial quantity and that is as a result of avalanche of resources. The State is on the verge of industrial revolution. 


The Commissioner disclosed that under the administration of Governor Oyetola, seven out of twelve intentions have been flagged-off for industrialization at the Free Trade Zone and International Trade Center, Dagbolu, which include: fruit juice production, tractor assemblage, polythene pipes production and several other automotive companies are ready for investment in Osun as well as Federal Automotive Council.



He emphasised that to ensure that markets and production in Osun are not localized, the International Trade Center (ICU), which has seven components with the Dry Port as its prime, in collaboration with Nigerian Shippers Council and Port Authority, is designed for haulage of international and local merchandise from Lagos Ports to Osogbo, and from Osogbo to other parts of the world through the train services.


As he said," in order to bring industries and production of made in Osun goods to standard , the state has embarked on campaign and empowerment of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)" adding that over 6,000 MSMEs have been empowered through loans.


In his words, "Osun is one of the few states in Nigeria to be lucky to have a financial expert as Governor. Our Governor in Osun, in person of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola is a man who is well versed in the area of Commerce and Industry and he is in a hurry to take the State to the next level in this regard.


"For the past two years, all the Governor has been passionate about is how to make the state the commercial hub of the South-West and Nigeria at large. "We are proud to say that our state is growing in leaps and bounds under the present administration and Medium and Small Scale buisness enterprises are smiling to the bank because of this, things can only get better for owners of small buisneses in our state.


The President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Mr. Emeka Nwandu commended Governor Oyetola administration's commitment to economic diversification and self-reliance.

 

Mr.Nwandu appreciated the efforts of the commissioner for the excellent participation of the Ministry at the Enugu Trade Fair, stressing that the state contingent has truly demonstrated that Osun is indeed a state that is ready to explore it's potentials in the area of Commerce and Industry.


The President added that Enugu State will begin to look for opportunity to visit Osun to cross-fertilise ideas on commerce and industry.


The President of Osun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OSSCCUMA), Mr. Bisi Makanjuola said with the efforts of Governor Oyetola, the state has offered new opportunities to investors as a result of which new businesses are springing up in Osun.


While appreciating the Enugu State Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the warm reception accorded  the people of Osun, Mr Makanjuola assured participants at the fair that Osun is ready and available to assist new investors in growing their chosen line of businesses.


"The commerce sector in Osun is on a steady growth under the administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola. He is doing so much in this regard and we are so happy for it," Makanjuola testified.


He said the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is determined to continue to make the state attractive to investors in line with his dream to make Osun the economic and commercial hub of the South-West and Nigeria in general.
