Sam Walton says, "Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self - esteem of their personnel". This quote however can be used to describe the Pioneer Director General Osun Amotekun Corps and now Field Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu who was appointed on 24th of April, 2020 to lead Osun Western Security Network coded as Amotekun by the State of Osun Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, based on his integrity and competency.
Without much ado, when Comrade Amitolu Shittu assumed office as the pioneer Director General of Osun Amotekun Corps, he toured rounds the palaces of royal Fathers in the State; having fruitful deliberations on security with them and their chiefs: seeking for their prayers, corporation and support.
Also, leaving no stone unturned, he commenced operations with the Adhoc Amotekun Personnel by engaging in 24hrs work and inculcating good leadership skills, security strategy and discipline to the personnel which led to apprehending the Marauders, illegal miners and Arm robbers in the state. However, despite the powerful force that are using the illegal miners to do their illegal business, he didn't compromised but stood firmly. While bestowing discipline in the personnel that work with him in other not to compromised topped his priority list. No doubt, this among others stand Osun Amotekun Corps out distinctly from other security outfit due to the discipline that Comrade Amitolu Shittu had inculcated into them.
Notedly, during 1961 inaugural address by John F. Kennedy famously declared "ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country." Distinctly, Comrade Amitolu Shittu is always ready to serve. Gloriously, he always lead the personnel to operations instead of expecting them to do it for him. Amitolu never run away from his responsibilities as the field commander, while has helped the security outfit to finds its leading feat among the comity of states in the southwest region of the country.
To the glory of God, with this achievements, we are not perturbed, he is the State Chairman of Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) and this gave him different opportunities to attend several security trainings, Conferences and seminars at home and abroad, which reflected in the achievements recorded so far by the security outfit within a year.
The Osun Amotekun Corps under Comrade Amitolu Shittu has achieved tremendously within a year with the arrest of illegal miners, Arm robbers, Mauraders, Cultists, etc.
Osun Amotekun Corps under Comrade Amitolu Shittu has also resolved so many issues that would have caused mayhem and chaos between Fulani and Yoruba in some communities in the state by use his wealth of experience in settling issues amicably.
To boot, no gain-saying the fact that Osun Amotekun Corps performed creditably well during the covid-19 lockdown by maintaining law and order in all boundary in the state and this helped the state tremendously to curtailed the spread of the deadly disease.
Comrade Amitolu Shittu has been managing creditably well over one hundred and fifty 150 Adhoc personnel for field work within a year.
The great achievements recorded withing a year by Comrade Amitolu Shittu at Osun Amotekun Corps cannot be over envises. No doubt, he has done a great job and he should always be encouraged rather than discouraged by the agents of distraction for maintained standard and discipline among the Corp members.
