— Governor prudent with funds meant for health provisions;

Apart from the rehabilitation, upgrading and revitalization of 332 focal Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, and sinking of 332 motorized boreholes for provision of indispensable water needs in all the Centres, Osun Health Commissioner, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, has also named revitalization of Ejigbo and Ifetedo General Hospitals, construction of a 120-bed Ward and 30-unit Doctors' Quarter at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, as some of the giant achievements of Governor Oyetola in the health sector.
Speaking during a live radio interview hosted by 'Ilerioluwa Vendors' in Osogbo on Thursday, Isamotu enumerated conversion of part of Mercyland Hospital, Osogbo, the General Hospital Ejigbo, and the abandoned Neurology Clinic at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, to fully-equipped Isolation Centres as other worthy achievements of the governor in health infrastructural provisions.
He commended his Principal, governor Oyetola, on leading other states in the policy implementation, management and administration of 'Save One Million Lives' (SOML) health intervention programmme.
On procurement of drugs and medical equipment, the Commissioner said Osun government has spent huge amount of money including distribution of over Fifty Million Naira worth of drugs to all the focal and non focal Primary Healthcare facilities in the state, and procurement of a befitting Hi-Tech theatre and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipment for the Uniosun Teaching Hospital (UTH), among others.
In the area of human resource for health and welfare, he said Oyetola's approval and subsequent commencement of payment of 100% corrected Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) as well as Consolidated Health Salary Scale (CONHESS) for health workers in the state effective from February 2020, has helped a great deal in thwarting the common incident of brain drain in the state.
Dr. Isamotu added that Osun government did not only stem the tide of brain drain, it has also employed several medical consultants, resident doctors and other health workers into the workforce of the UTH.
Speaking further, the Commissioner said "On health insurance, the government has released close to N50 Million equity grant meant for the provision of treatment and care for the vulnerable and less privileged people in the state.
"Mr. Governor has also released a sum of N150 Million take-off grant to Osun State Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) to enable the agency give quality services."
"It is also noteworthy to state that the government has also been consisted in the payment of the 67% government share of public servants' health insurance premium with a high sense of stewardship and prudence, he said."
