Government of the State of Osun under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has inaugurated 1,000 tricycles to ease transportation burden for the citizens of the State.
This is as the State Ministry of Commerce Industry Cooperatives and Empowerment and Ministry of Works and Transport in collaboration with Maxkeke Company piloted the first phase of the 'Keke Ileri' scheme in a roadshow across Osogbo,the State Capital.
The Commissioner for Commerce Industry Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olaonipekun while addressing the media during the roadshow stated that, the inauguration is to test -run the system put in place by the government of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola with the stakeholders to see how the system is working.
Dr Olaonipekun explained that the test-run will last for a week to test the durability and soundness of the Keke Ileri'.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce Industry Cooperatives and Empowerment, Chief(Mrs) Sola Ogunfolaju stated that the Keke Ileri' scheme which is in line with Governor Gboyega Oyetola's bid to ease transportation in the state will be flagged- off soon.
She stress that the keke ileri will also create job opportunities as the focus the Governor Oyetola's administration is to empower people of the State.
The Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Alhaji Ibrahim Folorunsho commended Governor for extending the dividends of democracy which is the bedrock of his administration to members of TOAN in Osun.
