Eid-el-Kabir: Osun Govt. Offers free train ride




The Osun State Government has reiterated its commitment to provide free train rides to Osogbo for its indigenes in Lagos and the other southwest States willing to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir with their families in Osun.

  Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Empowerment made known in a statement on Wednesday in Osogbo that the "free train service will depart the Iddo-Terminus in Lagos on Friday, July 8, 2022, by 10 am with stop-overs at designated train stations in Ogun and the Oyo States to pick passengers, and is expected to arrive at the Nelson Mandela Park Train Station at Osogbo by 6p.m." the statement read.

He said "On Tuesday, 12th July, the train would make a return- trip from Osogbo by 10 a.m. to Iddo-terminus in Lagos, with stopovers at designated train stations in Oyo and Ogun States to pick and discharge passengers. 

The Commissioner reiterated the fact that the Administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has been providing free train transportation for Osun indigenes during every festive season, since its inception. Adding that the Government will not relent in offering such programs aimed at bringing succor to the citizens and residents of the State.

 In his words,  "the program is designed to provide relief to citizens of the state traveling home to celebrate with their loved ones".

     Millions of people including citizens of neighboring states of Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Kwara, and Ondo, have benefited from the free train program since it was initiated by the Osun State Government in 2011," the statement read.
