Army Chief, Adewinmbi, Condemns Ede Killings, Tasks CP To Investigate Incident

. Disturbed by the unexpected turn of the event that culminated into the killings of two indigenes of Ede in the Ede-North Local Government Council Area of Osun State last Friday, by suspected police officers, the state commandant of Osun Security Network Agency (Amotekun), Brig-General Bashir Biodun Adewinmbi(rtd) has condemned the killing, tasking the state police authority under the commissionership of Mr Wale Olokode, to urgently set up a panel of inquiry with a view to finding the immediate and remote cause of the needless killings.

Adewinmbi who is a native of Ede from Ileba Compound stated that it was ungodly, wicked and callous for anyone to take the life of another person for whatever reason without the directive of the judiciary after a thorough trial in a competent court of record.

The Amotekun boss who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State remarked that the wicked killings of the two indigenes of Ede by suspected trigger-happy police officers succeeded in denting the image of the ancient town which before now was known to be an abode of peace.

He  expressed a surprise on how his place of birth and growth over six decades ago slided into this unfriendly and politically violent state which could not, in any way, encourage the growth of the town.

Adewinmbi enjoined the desperate political class in Ede to stop henceforth cashing in on the naivety of the teeming unemployed youths whom they use for thuggery activities during the election when their own children are studying for their brighter future abroad.

According to the security expert, the parents and guardians too have a prominent role to play by guiding their wards aright in the effective and productive journey of life.

He stated that the only way that the immediate, extended and political families of the slaughtered two  Ede indigenes of the APC extraction, can be assuaged is for the leadership of the police in the state to show and act immediately that a thorough investigation of the killings by his men would be promptly and effectively effected.

Adewinmbi hinted that by the time that the family of the slained Ede indigenes is having a feeling that the concerned authority is  not acting dispassionately to investigate and prosecute whoever is found culpable in the heinous killings of the supposed innocent souls in the face of the law, this may lead to a bottled up anger and absolute loss of confidence in the police institution.

"Let me use this medium to console the families of the berieved  and the entire people of Edeland over the killings of the two of our indigenes and pray for the repose of their souls, Adewinmbi prayed.

It would be recalled that Mr Abideen Olalekan, a 45-year-old bricklayer and his younger brother's wife, Mrs Kafayat Olalekan, an auxiliary nurse, were allegedly shot dead by the newly-appointed police team led by Chief Security Officer (CSO), Chief Superintendent of Police,  Mr Omoyele Isaac Adekunle, in a gruesome manner.
