Breaking: Osunjela Community Call IBEDC To Disconnect Them From Ilesa Electricity and Reconnect Them With Osogbo Electricity .... promise to block the road if failed to yield to their demand



The osunjela community along Osogbo/Ilesa road today staged a protest against the incessant blackout in the community.


The protesters who carry placards in showing their grievances to the government and IBEDC Management, the protesters caused gridlock for motorists passing the busy road.


They called the IBEDC to disconnect the community from Ilesa Electricity which they described as the cause of the incessant blackout in the community for a very long time and the electricity distribution company should Reconnect the community with Osogbo electricity.





When speaking to the newsmen, the Chairman of the community, Hon. Kazeem Adebayo described the act of the IBEDC management as callous and uncalled for by bringing bills without giving the community the necessary attention that it deserves.


"We are doing these protests to show our displeasure to the Ibadan Distribution Company(IBEDC) who are in charge of the electricity distribution in our community, the way they are treating us is bad and should be looked into, even though we are paying our bills regularly they refused to give us light every time, sometimes we will be in blackout for Six months and they will be bringing bills, what will need now from the IBEDC and the government is to disconnect the community from using Ilesa electricity and they should have a matter urgency Reconnect the community with Osogbo electricity because our community is very close to Owode-Osogbo these are our demands from the company and the government but if they failed to give the necessary attention to our demand they should be waiting for the mother of all protests".


In his reaction, the Secretary of the community, Mr. Victor, urge the IBEDC to look into their demand and do the necessary things before it gets out of hand.


"The electricity company should do the needful on time because people are leaving the community because there was not a light, even some people are selling their houses due to the blackout and it has been affecting the economic situation of the community, IBEDC should stop bringing bills and they should Reconnect the Osunjela Community with Osogbo Electricity and not again with Ilesa Electricity".


In their separate displeasure with the IBEDC treatments, an elderly woman, Mrs. Balogun, Mrs. Cecilia Daramola, and a youth Mr. Ayo Welder described the act displayed by the IBEDC towards the community as Sardonic and Barbaric despite prompt payment of bills, they called the electricity distribution company to yield to the demand of the community on time.
