Osun APC Thumbs Up FCID Police Over Arrest Of Fadahunsi, Notorious Criminal

Intensify Efforts To Arrest Other Thugs Like Bode Itaapa, Solo Iwara, Emir Ajagungbade, Others

- APC Chair Tells Police

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the Nigeria Police from the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos over the recent arrest of a dare-devil criminal, Afolabi Fadahunsi popularly known as 'Carlos'.

Carlos who is being touted as being on the payroll of the governing party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was arrested Saturday morning, with deadly weapons including two units of Berreta guns and 56 live ammunitions, by the police officers from the FCID, Lagos before he was handed over to men of the State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID) Osogbo, for further investigation and prosecution.

Information has it that since the hand-over of the suspected political thugs to the officers in Osogbo, there has been rumour of the state government making efforts to circumvent the laws and get the arrested hoodlum off the hook in order for him  to continue to wreak havoc on the members of the opposition APC in the state.

There have been series of coordinated attacks of innocent and perceived members of the opposition party since November 27, 2022, when Adeleke was inaugurated as the state governor, especially in Ilesa and Osogbo.

Many notable cabinet members of the last administration have also been reportedly pencilled down for attacks and assassination.

Since the emergence of Adeleke as the governor, the cheapest item in Osun State has been avoidable death from the hands of political thugs who have been brazenly operating under the cover of the state government.

Some of the political thugs who have been declared wanted by the police are are said to be taking cover at the Ede country home of the governor to evade arrest and take directives on their next target of attack.

The security situation in Osogbo and some other towns in the state is scary and worrisome as the police on ground seem to be looking away each time such crime was committed.

Just yesterday, a commercial motorcycle rider was beaten to death at the Kobongbogboe junction of Osogbo for having the effrontery to demand his transport fare from these political thugs who have been on the prowl across the state.

There is a recurring case of one Olalekan Ajagungbade (Emir), one of the notorious  thugs in Osogbo, who enjoys the fraternisation and patronisation of the current Government.

Emir is said to have an unfettered access to the Adeleke country home in Ede which has emboldened him to carry out his dastardly activities in the state.

Surprisingly, Emir was not only named as a member of the Adeleke transition committee, he has also been appointed as a member of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Osun State Government to manage motorparks in the state.

In his statement,  the state acting chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, commended the efforts of the police from Alagbon for the job well done, tasking them to further extend their dragnet with a view to arresting and prosecuting other notorious criminals who have been operating unhindered in the state.

Lawal queried the state commissioner of police on what is constituting the delay in the arrest of other known political criminals in the state like Bode Olakayode, popularly known as ‘Bode Itaapa,’ Solomon Adefioye Adedimeji, popularly known as ‘Solo Iwara,’ as well as their kingpin, Emir Ajagungbade who has already been declared wanted by the police.

The Acting APC State Chairman observed that Governor Adeleke is helpless in curtailing the activities of the political hoodlums as they have been operating within his whims and caprices in order to cow the opposition.

Lawal stated that what is more worrisome is the suspicion that the police and the state government are working in cahoots to oppress, surpress and subjugate the opposition.

He cautioned the police authority in the state to desist from playing an hanky-panky game on the issue of security of lives and property of the people irrespective of their political leanings, adding that "if an information that the governor and a PDP NASS candidate have been pressing a button for the release of Carlos is anything to go by, it is indeed a cause for concern on security status in the state".
