The Jigawa State Police Command has announced that its members thwarted a kidnapping plot and rescued the victim unharmed.This was contained in a statement by the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Datse on Monday.
“On September 17, 2023, at around 8:40 p.m., we received information from reliable sources that at around 7:40 p.m. on the same day, gangs armed with dangerous weapons invaded Kwanar Garki in Babura Local Government Area. It has been revealed that one-year-old Ishaq Umar was kidnapped from Kofar Arewa Babura LGA and shot 30-year-old Ahmad Abdullahi of Babarga village in the armpit.'' the statement said.
He said that after receiving the report, a team of police officers led by DPO Babura District Police Headquarters rushed to the crime scene and rescued the kidnapped victim unharmed.He said both the kidnapped victim and the injured were taken to Babura General Hospital for treatment.The statement said the abductees were treated and released and later reunited with their families.Meanwhile, Abdullahi, who was shot dead by the kidnappers, was transferred to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for proper treatment.
He explained that it was a continuation of the distress call from Babura Division that the suspected kidnappers were heading towards the Lingim area."Lingim divisional police officers, along with a team of police officers and vigilante groups, conducted a stop and search at Daushe village on the Lingim Kanya Bubba highway."DSP Seeth further added that when the gang saw the police, They explained that they used Vectra.
