Lautech Muslim Graduate Association(LAUMGA) Holds First Annual Ramadan Lecture In Osogbo

The holy month of Ramadan is ordained by Allah for his people(Mumini and Muminat) to reflect on their actions and seek forgiveness from Allah. These were the thoughts on many minds on Sunday 31st March 2024 as the Lautech Muslim Graduate Association (LAUMGA), Osogbo Chapter held its first Annual Ramadan lecture at Lameco Central Mosque, Osogbo. The Ramadan lecture witnessed a large turnout of the Muslim faithful and other guests.

The sermon was delivered by Dr. Saheed A Shittu(Ag. Head, Accountancy Department Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, The theme was "Unification of Muslim Graduates As Panacea To Unemployment Problem and Curbing Social Vices in our Society" Dr.Saheed Shittu while doing justice to the topic, advised people to always seek refugee in Allah because only Allah can dictate the destiny of any individual.

He urged Muslims to support one another in terms of need, he speaks on how Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W) struggled in Mecca to make the Islam stand which everyone is enjoying today. He asks members to be dedicated to promoting one another and promoting Islam wherever they are.

He also advised Nigerians that at this time when the country is facing a lot of challenges, they should get closer to Allah and seek his guidance for the leaders.

He also emphasized that in times of challenges, leaders should stand firmly with the people irrespective of the persecution or rejection they experience.

He praised the Chairman of the Association for organizing the first annual Ramadan lecture and assured him that history will not forget his contributions and dedication to the progress and development of LAUMGA.

He charged him not to relent in bringing development to the association while seeking protection from Allah in all things.

He also charged the government to support and promote education to curb the rate of unemployment in the country and those who have no money to finance their education should be assisted by the government.

"The government should make job training accessible for the unemployed youths because some people are just managing jobs they are doing presently but are not satisfied, so they will be thinking of progressing to another stage, the government should create a micro-finance program for the unemployed graduates to assist those who need little capital to establish their businesses if it micro-finance bank it will not require collateral that people will not be able to afford"

"Government should also improve employment in labor-intensive industry and they should make sure they provide a job for those that have skills and mechanized equipment should be provided to make work easier for them. That's why some people who graduated with a B.sc agriculture don't want to go to a farm when there is no equipment to use, when they provide the equipment it will help them to be mechanized farmers and they will be happy to go to the farm"

"The government should invest in Infrastructure and they should reduce the barriers on employment insurance and create availability of housing and other industrial services, if the government can provide this it will curb the employment rate in the society and it's generally not for Muslims alone"

He advises the Muslim brothers and sisters not to wait for white collar jobs before starting doing something, "because it's not polite for someone to wake up and ask him what are you doing and he says he/she is looking for a job when you have a strength the person should find something to do and if the person didn't learn any skills work before graduating, he/she should look for skills training to find something to do"

He urged the youths to go and learn skills and they should not wait until getting a government job rather they should learn skills that will be useful for them.
