Osun: Southwest Commodities Farmers Organization Flag-Off Its Daily Farmer's Market in Osogbo.


The Southwest Commodities Farmers Organization has officially launched its daily farmer's market at Ayegbaju International Market in Osogbo, Osun State. 


The market aims to alleviate farmers' suffering, reduce middlemen's exploitation, and make food readily available and affordable. 


The organization's chairman, Alhaji Rauf Adeyemo, thanked the Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his support and provision of over 300 mini and open shops. The market will offer various agricultural products at farm gate prices to reduce food costs.



He appreciates the role played by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who facilitated quick takeoff of this market in conjunction with the Special Adviser to the governor on Market Development Hon. Mrs Grace Eniola Omotosho.


According to him, "We give thanks to Almighty God who has made today reality, the maiden edition in the establishment of Osun State Southwest Commodities Farmers Organization international market" within Ayegbaju International Market, whose flag off is holding today Monday 9th September, 2024 by is Excellency, the Executive Governor Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.



"One of the major objectives of the concept of the establishment of this farmer's market is to alleviate the suffering of the farmers whereby the middlemen take undue advantage over these farmers and short change them, we want to reduce this unwholesome attitude off this middlemen in this regard, furthermore we want to make food readily available and affordable to every citizen of the state including our neighboring states. This making Osun State as the food basket of the nation. Also one of the objectives of this market, is to encourage our farmers to put in more efforts, such that their are labor is not in vain, thus enhancing their standard of living.


"To the government of Osun State under the Leadership of our vibrant, dynamic, work and talk, amiable leader, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who has graciously approved the release of Over 300 mini and open shops for the use of SWCFO Osun State within the premises of Ayegbaju International Market to kickstart this market, we salute your doggedness sir. "In this market all agricultural produce even across the food value chain such as maize, millet, sorghum, cowpea, soyabean, sweet potato, tubers, vegetables, diary products, livestock and animals and feed, fish and fisheries products and host of other goods will be available and sold at farm gate price, so as to crash the high cost of food items that we are currently experiencing in our various markets in the country on daily basis.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo reiterated the commitment and dedication of the state Government to support agricultural producers in the state in making food sufficient for the residents of the state. This is the motive why the governor of the state purchase a tractor for the farmers and distributing of fertilizer and farm produce to the farmers in the state.


He assured the readiness of the state Government to partner with relevant Organization that have the motive of producing food items with low price for the benefits of all the residents of Osun State.


He commend the Osun State Governor Sen Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for embarking massive infrastructural projects and distributions of farm tools to the farmers in the state.


He urged the residents of the state not to relent in support the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to the state to a greater heights in no distant time.
