No fewer than 200 members of the People's Democratic Party On Wednesday September 4th, 2024 decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 09 Oba-Ile, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State led by Mr Kolawole Akeem Alias Kunso from Esa Oyafunke Compound Oba Ile led 50 people's to the party, while Mr. Nurudeen Jimoh Ajinikirun also led his team, Mrs Lawal Yidiat led 25 people's, Mrs Tijani Abudulahi Representative of Fulani community Oba Ile led their people's and Mrs Fakunle Fausat, Kolawole Anifat and Adeyemi Racheal also joined the party.
The decampees who denounced their former political party-People's Democratic Party, PDP, described the decision as a deliberate effort to pitch tent with a political party built on Internal democracy and democratic tenets so as to further impact in people's lives.
Receiving the defectors to the party, Councilorship Candidate for Ward 9 Oba-Ile, expressed gratitude to Almighty God for always being with the party now and then particularly since the party stepped aside from government in Osun State.
He eulogized the defectors for taking a bold step of coming to a progressive party that understands the real definition of politics and governance.
He appealed to the members of the party to continue to extend hands of fellowship to the new members as they used to do in line with the principles of the party as APC is known for honesty, integrity and excellence.
According to him "I want to appeal to the defectors to continue to work with the members of our party for our collective progress and success. We want you to be more united and committed to the party's cause so as to ensure that our party comes victorious in the forthcoming Local Government Election in Ward 09 Oba-Ile and Olorunda LGA.
"We are grateful that the defectors are coming at the right time. Our party is the political party to beat anytime. We are confident in God and humanity that our party has continued to wax stronger as ever before as affirmed by the quality people defecting into our party in recent times", Ojebe said.
In the defectors remarks led by, Mr Kolawole Akeem, Mr Nurudeen Jimoh Ajinikirun, Mrs Lawal Yidiat, Mr Tijani Abudulahi, Mrs Fakunle Fausat, Mrs Kolawole Anifat and Mrs Adeyemi Racheal asserted that their decision to join the party- APC was informed by its democracy that define the engagement of its loyalists.
They pledged to work in unison with all to further strengthen the party and record electoral success and victory in the forthcoming election in Ward 09 Oba-Ile for the Councilorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Hon. Amodu Isiaka Ojebe and the party Chairmanship Candidate.
He described the Councilorship Candidate of APC in Ward 09 Oba Ile, Hon. Amodu Isiaka Ojebe as the choice of all and sundry in the ward which motivated them to join the All Progressives Congress(APC) to work assiduously for his victory in the forthcoming Local Government Election and other Elections.
The occasion was attended by loyalists and admirers of the party in the ward and beyond.
