As the people of Nigeria,  Osun and the people  of Esa-Oke  remember the life and legacy of Chief Bola Ige, Ex. Governor of Old Oyo State , Minister of Power and Minister of Justice, in a statement made available to the press through his press outfit New Spring Media, Prof. 'Siji Olamiju aka AKOL, has said that, he is filled with a sense of nostalgia and reverence.

I remembered with trepidatory nostalgia the last personal encounter with Baba Bola Ige  during 2001 Easter celebration and the discourse  he shifted to December 26,2001 at  his house, as the then Dual President of Esa Oke Students Association ( ESA), OAU Ile -Ife and Obokun Local Government Students Union( OBLSU).

Late Chief Bola Ige (SAN)
Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Baba Bola Ige sir,  though you are no more physically, I cherish your impartation to the high heavens.

Today, I join Nigerians and people around the world to pay Golden Tribute to this most  remarkable Cicero of Esa-Oke, who left an  indelible mark on our nation as whole.

As a Champion of Justice, democracy, and human rights, Chief Ige dedicated his life to serving the people of Nigeria. His unwavering commitment to the rule of law, his unshakeable integrity, and his unrelenting passion for a better Nigeria inspired generations of Nigerians.

As Governor of Old Oyo State, Chief Ige demonstrated unrivaled capacity, exceptional leadership, vision, and courage. His tenure was marked by numerous unprecedented development, progress, and peace. He was a true Statesman who put the interests of his people above his own. He was among the political youths who  contested the UPN primaries:

Sen. Ayo Fasanmi contested with  Adekunle Ajasin in old Ondo, Chief Bola Ige contested with his former Teacher Pa Emmanuel Alayande in old Oyo , Dr Tunji Otegbeye  contested with Chief Bisi Onabanjo in Ogun. It  was only Chief Bola Ige that succeeded and won the election among them.

As Minister of Justice, Chief by Ige worked tirelessly to promote justice, equality, and fairness. He was a strong Advocate for human rights, the rule of law, and the independence of the Judiciary.

The tragic circumstances of his assassination on December 23, 2001, shocked and saddened Nigerians. It was a devastating loss, not just for us in Esa-Oke, his immediate family, and friends but for the entire nation and international community.

Today, as we remember  the life and death of  Chief Bola Ige, we honour his legacy, his values, and his vision for a better Nigeria. We celebrate his life, his achievements, and his unwavering commitment to course of justice, democracy, and human rights.

May his memory continue to inspire us to strive for a Nigeria that is just, equitable, and peaceful. May his legacy continue to guide us as we work towards a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

Rest in perpetual peace Baba, Chief Bola Ige ,SAN.

My father, my Leader, and my Mentor. Your memory will never be forgotten.

I equally use this sweet remembrance to commiserate with the living Legends of Chief Bola Ige political faculty, Chief Bisi Akande and President Bola Tinubu GCFR.
