The Osun Amotekun Corps has expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Officer Sunday Babajide Abodunrin, who passed away on Saturday following a brief illness. He was laid to rest on Monday in Osogbo amidst a gathering of mourners who came to pay their final respects to a gallant officer.
In an official statement released by the Corps Commander, Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, the late officer was described as a committed and courageous operative who served with honor, dignity, and unwavering dedication to the security of Osun State.
“Today, we mourn the loss of one of our own—an operative who gave his strength, his courage, and his life in service to the safety and peace of our community. His dedication was unwavering, his loyalty unquestionable, and his sacrifice unforgettable.
He died a hero,” the Commander said.
He further described the death as a “rude shock” to the entire Amotekun family and emphasized the lasting impact Officer Abodunrin made during his tenure with the Corps.
“The entire Amotekun Corps stands in solidarity with the Abodunrin family during this difficult time. Please accept our deepest condolences. My heart breaks for the departed soul.
He now joins the angelic host in singing ‘Mimo, Mimo, Mimo’ before the throne of his Maker. Rest in peace, gallant officer,” Commander Omoyele concluded.
Officer Sunday Babajide Abodunrin was known for his bravery, professionalism, and a strong sense of duty. His passing leaves a significant void in the Corps and the larger security network in Osun State.
The Osun Amotekun Corps honors his memory and service and assures the bereaved family of continued support in the days ahead.
