JABU Alumni Congratulates Prof. Joash Amupitan On Confirmation As New INEC Chairman


The Alumni Association of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) on his appointment and confirmation as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).


In a statement signed by its National President, Hon. Akinkunmi Akintayo BDD, the association described Prof. Amupitan’s nomination and just concluded confirmation by the Senate, as a well-deserved recognition of excellence, integrity, and years of distinguished service to education, law and national development.


The alumni commended President Bola Tinubu for identifying a man of proven character and competence to lead such a critical national institution. 


They expressed confidence that Prof. Amupitan’s leadership would strengthen Nigeria’s electoral processes and deepen democratic values.


“Prof. Amupitan has always demonstrated passion for fairness, transparency, and good governance. His new role as INEC Chairman will no doubt benefit from his wealth of experience and unblemished record,” the statement read.


The association noted that as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at JABU, Prof. Amupitan has provided visionary leadership, promoted academic excellence, and advanced the university’s reputation as a centre of moral and intellectual development.


They added that his elevation to the national stage is a testament to JABU’s enduring legacy of nurturing leaders with strong ethical foundations and commitment to service.


The Alumni Association prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and courage for Prof. Amupitan as he undertakes the enormous responsibility of steering the nation’s electoral body.


“Once again, we celebrate our distinguished Pro-Chancellor and wish him success in this noble assignment,” the statement concluded.
