A 28-year-old woman named Juliet was beaten to death after having a fight with a man who has not yet been identified. This incident happened in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
On Wednesday, PUNCH Metro learned from a source close to the situation, who asked to remain unnamed, that during an argument on Monday, Juliet had broken the windshield of the man’s car.
The source explained that, upset by what Juliet had done, the man called some young men from the area. They attacked Juliet, took her to an unfinished building, and beat her until she was unconscious.
According to the source, when some people who wanted to help arrived at the place where she had been attacked, they tried to take her to a hospital, but sadly, they found out that she had already died.
The source said, “Juliet had issues with a particular man and broke his car windscreen. The man then hired ‘area boys’ to beat her up. They tied her up, took her to an uncompleted building, tortured and molested her, and left her almost dead. Before people could rush her to get help, she gave up.
A relative of the victim said he did not know what made Juliet break the man’s windscreen and made it clear that he did not support her action. He, however, stated that if someone’s windscreen was damaged, the lawful step would be to report the matter to the police, not to arrange for murder, describing the act as pure evil and insisting that everyone involved should face justice.
A security operative in the area, who spoke anonymously, explained that Juliet appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol during the altercation, and that her damaging the man’s car worsened the situation. The source added that police operatives arrived at the scene shortly after and arrested three suspects, including the man’s wife.
When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident and said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation. He disclosed that three suspects — two women and one man — were arrested in connection with the case.
It was also recalled that in February, PUNCH Metro reported a similar tragedy when the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in Ijedodo, Alimosho Local Government Area.
