Adieu to His Royal Majesty, Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun III
On behalf of the people and Government of Osogbo Local Government, I commiserate with the people of Igbajo Land, his wives, children, the immediate family of Kabiyesi Famodun III, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Chief Bisi Akande, His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, Distinguished Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, PhD, Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, leaders of our party, and all party members.
During his lifetime, Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun rose through the ranks of politics from the grassroots to the state level. He served as Chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government, State Secretary of the party, and was later unanimously elected as the State Chairman of the party - under whose leadership the party achieved significant victories.
Oba Famodun was the State Chairman when my leaders and party members in Osogbo entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as the Party Chairman in Osogbo. He took a keen interest in my progress, particularly in my proactive approach and capacity to mobilise support across all fifteen wards of Osogbo.
Towards the end of the previous local government administration in 2022, when many aspirants were vying for the council chairmanship and tensions were rising, Oba Famodun consulted with our leaders in Osogbo.
Recognising the need to stabilise the situation, he recommended my nomination as a temporary measure to ease the tension on 12 July 2022. My performance during that short tenure helped build my credibility and contributed to my subsequent election through the support of our leaders and members in Osogbo Local Government.
Until he travelled to Abuja for medical attention, Kabiyesi remained in touch, always offering advice and prayers for the success of my administration as Executive Chairman of Osogbo Local Government.
The party has lost a pillar of support.
We will miss him deeply.
