Lere Olayinka, who holds the position of Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has disclosed that Isaac Fayose, whom he considers to be his younger brother, has withdrawn a defamation lawsuit against him, which was initially filed for ₦200 billion.
A court notice from the FCT High Court, Gudu Division (Case No. FCT/HC/CV/GAR/157/2025), dated November 4, 2025, was uploaded by Lere on his official X account, which was the source of the news. The notice confirmed that the case had been terminated.
Isaac, the brother of Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, filed a lawsuit against Lere in March 2025, alleging that Lere had posted defamatory comments on social media. This was the beginning of the disagreement.
Concerns were raised during a hearing that took place in June 2025, when Lere made a public demand that Isaac submit to a drug test, which escalated the public confrontation between the two of them.
Lere referred to Isaac's decision to withdraw from the race as a "wise" move in his post on X. However, he also included a pointed remark in which he asked for refund of the N10 million that was spent on legal fees. He joked that the self-proclaimed millionaire brother should not find it burdensome.
Lere's sharp comments hint that some personal problems remain unsolved, despite the fact that the deal brings an official end to a high-profile family quarrel that has been played out in the public view.
On his official X Twitter, Lere Olayinka published the following statement:
"My younger brother, Isaac Fayose, says he is not pursuing the case against me again. That is a wise decision. But what about the money I paid the lawyer and other expenses I incurred? Make Isaac refund what I paid the lawyer, abeg. He is kuku a billionaire; N10 million is nothing to him."
