The news of Oba Philip Famodun's death came as a rude shock. Prof. Siji Olamiju, a prominent leader in the Osun All Progressive Party, described the loss as a significant blow not only to Osun State but to Nigeria as a whole.
In a statement made available to the press through his media assistant Mr Temitope Adebayo, Olamiju recalled that the Owa of Igbajo served Osun State in various capacities before ascending to the throne of his forefathers. He highlighted Oba Famodun's notable tenure as Chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government, where he left an indelible mark as Executive Chairman of Boluwaduro Local government in the 3rd Republic under the APP. The late Oba Famodun later joined the Progressive movement under ACN, serving as Party Secretary, and later became Party Chairman under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof. Olamiju expressed that he shared a cordial relationship with Oba Famodun and noted that his passing came at a time his services were most needed. "The void left by Oba Famodun will be difficult to fill," he said.
Prof. Olamiju extends his sympathies to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the national, state, and local levels, the people of Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government, and the bereaved family. He prays that God gives them the strength to bear this great loss of an icon. Olamiju said
