Veteran Nollywood actress Keji Yusuf has stated that false rumors about her relocating to Dubai have cost her several movie roles in the industry.
In a video interview shared by OYINMOMO TV, Yusuf recounted a recent encounter with a producer who was surprised to see her in Nigeria. She said the producer told her that many people believed she had moved to Dubai, which was why she hadn’t been contacted for film projects. Yusuf expressed disappointment, suggesting that such rumors are sometimes used as an excuse to replace actors.
She said producers should verify information before making casting decisions, especially when it affects the careers of seasoned professionals like herself.
She stated, "One of my bosses suddenly ran into me and asked where I had been all this while. He said they heard I had relocated to Dubai. I replied, 'How come? I've been at home.' He said, 'That's what people said, which is why we couldn't call you for movie roles.' So I said to myself, 'This is what producers do when they want to use someone else for a role.'"
