The Iludun Community in Osogbo on Saturday held a special New Year prayer session to usher in the year 2026 and to collectively reflect on the progress, unity, and development of the community.
The well-attended prayer programme brought together community leaders, traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and residents, all of whom gathered to seek divine guidance and blessings for peace and sustainable development in Iludun Community.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe charged members of the Iludun Community, particularly the traditional chiefs, to rally round the Baale in advancing the growth and progress of the community.
He emphasized the need for collective support for ongoing and future developmental initiatives, including the completion of the Civil Defence office under construction in the community. According to him, every effort and idea capable of attracting meaningful development to Iludun should be embraced and supported.
In their respective sermons, the Islamic cleric and the Christian pastor who led the prayer session both stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among residents.
They called on members of the community to promote harmony, tolerance, and mutual respect, while also pledging their support to the Baale and the council of chiefs in the interest of unity and progress.
Also speaking at the programme, the Baale of Iludun Community, Osogbo, Chief Afolabi Keji Yusuf, expressed deep appreciation to the religious leaders, traditional chiefs, residents, and well-wishers for honouring the invitation and standing in solidarity with the community.
He described peace, unity, and love as the cornerstone for meaningful development and urged all stakeholders to continue working together for the common good.
Chief Afolabi further highlighted steps already taken by his leadership to improve the welfare and infrastructure of the community.
He disclosed that formal letters have been written to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, as well as to the local government authorities, requesting support for the installation of solar streetlights, construction of access roads, and provision of other social amenities capable of boosting economic activities and improving the living standards of residents.
The New Year prayer programme concluded with renewed hope, collective resolve, and prayers for a peaceful and prosperous 2026 for Iludun Community and its people.
