A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Najeem Oyewumi, has extended his warm greetings and heartfelt felicitations to Muslims and Christians in Ife South Local Government, Osun State, and across Nigeria as they observe the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, Hon. Oyewumi described the concurrent observance of Ramadan and Lent as a unique and spiritually significant period that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, and strengthened commitment to God and humanity.
According to him, “Ramadan and Lent are not merely periods of abstinence from food and worldly pleasures. They are sacred seasons that offer believers the opportunity to purify their hearts, deepen their relationship with the Almighty, and cultivate virtues such as compassion, self-discipline, humility, and generosity.”
He emphasized that the essence of both holy seasons lies in promoting love, tolerance, forgiveness, and peaceful co-existence among people of different faiths and backgrounds. He urged adherents to use this period to pray fervently for unity, stability, and sustained progress in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
Hon. Oyewumi further called on residents of Ife South and the entire state to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and harmony that have long characterized the people of Osun State. He noted that religious harmony remains a cornerstone for sustainable development and collective prosperity.
The APC chieftain also used the opportunity to encourage the good people of Osun State to rally behind the party’s governorship candidate in the forthcoming August 8, 2026 election, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji. He described Oyebamiji as “a man of the people, a tested administrator, and a visionary leader who has the interest and welfare of the masses at heart.”
Hon. Oyewumi expressed confidence that under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, Osun State would witness accelerated development, inclusive governance, and people-oriented policies that will uplift communities and create opportunities for all.
“As we observe these sacred periods, let us not only draw closer to God but also recommit ourselves to building a peaceful, united, and progressive Osun State. Together, through faith, love, and purposeful leadership, we can achieve greater heights,” he stated.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and Christians a fulfilling Lenten season, praying that the sacrifices, prayers, and supplications offered during this period would usher in peace, prosperity, and renewed hope for the state and the nation.
