In a recent Facebook video, Primate Ayodele warned about the potential for political conflicts as the 2027 general elections approach, highlighting the importance of proactive government measures. In an interview, he reflected on previous instances of election-related disturbances and the dangers that may arise.
Ayodele pointed out the unpredictability of the political situation, particularly mentioning Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the possibility of heightened political rivalry leading up to the elections. He expressed concern over the potential for conflicts, stating, "Wike, however, nemesis fight politically. I don't see that government should prevent the crisis," emphasizing the risks if tensions are not addressed.
He reminded his audience of Nigeria's history of election violence, warning that without preventive actions, violent protests could emerge. "Because I have seen protest crisis. I have seen violence towards election 2027," he remarked, urging authorities to stay alert and practice proactive crisis management.
Political experts concur that early intervention and dialogue among parties could help mitigate the chances of violence.
