Abbas Tajudeen Mourns Deputy Chief of Staff, Dunkwu Chamberlain Nnamdi

The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative), Dunkwu Chamberlain Nnamdi, describing the loss as shocking and devastating.

Dr. Chamberlain, who hailed from Uteh Okpu community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, died in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026. He was also serving as the President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation and would have turned 55 on March 21.

In a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker said he was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of his close aide.

According to him, Dr. Chamberlain was more than a deputy chief of staff; he was a dependable ally who served with dedication and commitment until his final moments. The Speaker noted that the late aide had appeared healthy and full of life only hours earlier, having joined him and other colleagues for the breaking of fast on Friday evening.

“This is indeed a painful moment for me, my colleagues, his family, and the entire staff in my office. His death is truly one death too many,” the Speaker said.

He added that Dr. Chamberlain lived a life devoted to service to humanity and his country, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness, sacrifice, and responsibility.

Speaker Abbas later visited the family of the deceased to condole with his widow and children, urging them to remain strong in the face of the painful loss. He prayed that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss and grant the departed soul eternal rest.

Dr. Chamberlain was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) to the Speaker on June 26, 2023. Before then, he served as Special Adviser on Members’ Affairs to the Speaker of the 9th Assembly and Chief of Staff to the current Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

A committed member of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Chamberlain was also widely respected as a sports administrator and served as a Knight of the Anglican Communion in the Asaba Diocese.
