The All Progressives Congress (APC) Spain Chapter has formally endorsed the continuation of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Surajudeen Basiru, for the same position ahead of the 2026 APC National Convention, emphatically declaring that there is “no vacancy” for the role.
This position was made known in an official statement released in Madrid, Spain, following a strategic meeting of APC members in the country. The statement was signed and communicated by the Chairman of APC Spain and Secretary-General of the APC Diaspora Committee Chairmen, Ambassador Adeayo Tella, who also serves as Coordinator of the Spain RTIFN.
According to Ambassador Tella, the endorsement reflects the overwhelming confidence of APC members in the diaspora particularly in Spain in the leadership, competence, and unwavering commitment of Senator Basiru to the ideals and vision of the party.
“After a thorough review of his performance and dedication, we are convinced that there is no better candidate for the position of National Secretary than Distinguished Senator Ajibola Surajudeen Basiru, PhD,” the statement read. “His track record speaks to integrity, loyalty, administrative capacity, and a deep-rooted commitment to progressive governance.”
The APC Spain Chapter further highlighted that Senator Basiru’s tenure has strengthened internal party structures, enhanced coordination across various chapters, and fostered unity among party members both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Describing him as a trusted and dependable party stalwart, the group noted that his leadership qualities have earned him widespread respect and confidence among APC faithful globally.
The statement also reaffirmed the chapter’s solidarity with the APC Diaspora Committee Chairmen, emphasizing their collective resolve to support continuity in leadership where it has proven effective and beneficial to the party’s growth.
“We stand firmly with the Diaspora Committee Chairmen in endorsing Senator Basiru’s continued service. His contributions remain invaluable, and continuity at this critical time will further consolidate the party’s achievements,” Ambassador Tella added.
The APC Spain Chapter concluded by urging other party stakeholders, both at home and abroad, to rally behind Senator Basiru in the interest of unity, stability, and sustained progress within the All Progressives Congress as it prepares for the 2026 National Convention.
