I shot the driver,I said this car will not move unless I’m not serving the God of my father–Adebayo

A Nigerian man, David Emmanuel Adebayo, has narrated how he managed to resist a group of armed robbers who attacked him shortly after withdrawing a large sum of money from a bank in Minna, Niger State. The incident, which occurred moments after he left the banking premises, has attracted widespread public attention after a video of the event circulated online.

According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Monday, March 9, 2026, Adebayo shared his experience during a church testimony, where he described the incident as an act of divine intervention. He explained that the robbers confronted him soon after he withdrew nine million naira from the bank, attempting to seize the money.

Despite having no prior knowledge of handling firearms, Adebayo said he was able to wrestle a weapon away from one of the attackers during the confrontation. He described the situation as extraordinary, saying he believed the courage he displayed came from spiritual preparation through fasting and prayer.

Adebayo explained that his faith gave him the boldness to challenge the robbers rather than surrender to them. After disarming one of the suspects, he said he moved toward the front of their vehicle and fired a shot aimed at the driver. He maintained that he had never handled or fired a gun before and had received no form of training in the use of firearms.

While recounting the experience, he said he felt spiritually guided throughout the encounter, noting that he began speaking in tongues and sensed a strong awareness that helped him act quickly and decisively. According to him, he believed divine protection played a key role in helping him survive the situation.

The dramatic encounter has also sparked conversations about security concerns in Niger State, especially regarding the risks associated with withdrawing large amounts of cash from banks. Many people who watched the viral footage have expressed surprise at how Adebayo was able to overpower the attackers despite their weapons and numerical advantage.

Through his testimony, Adebayo highlighted both the danger he faced and the faith he believes helped him overcome the life-threatening situation.

He said, “God gave me the wisdom, I collected the gun from an armed robber and I have never shot before, I don’t have any training. I was speaking in tongues. I went to the front of their car, I shot at the driver. I said this car will not move unless I’m not serving the God of my father.”
