The Office of the Grand Mufty of Yoruba Land, Edo and Delta has announced that the Shawwal crescent will not be visible on Wednesday, citing astronomical calculations.
In a message shared on Facebook on Wednesday, the Grand Mufty, Sheikh Abdul-Razaq Abdul-Azeez Ishola , stated that the lunar conjunction necessary for the sighting of the new moon would occur in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the statement, “With authority (knowledge) bestowed on human, nowhere on earth can the Shawwal crescent be seen today because the conjunction shall occur 1:23am GMT, 2:23am Nigeria time tomorrow.”

Based on this, the religious authority concluded that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration would hold on Friday, marking the end of the Ramadan fast for Muslims.
The announcement provides guidance to the Muslim faithful across the region, aligning the Eid celebration with the expected lunar calendar calculations.
Blaze Newz gathered that the Ramadan fasting will be counted 30 by Thursday and Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday while it will be 29 if it ends on Wednesday.
