Nollywood actress Victoria Ajibola has revealed a traumatic experience in which she narrowly escaped sexual assault by a superior within the film industry.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Ajibola recounted that the incident occurred in Lagos in 1999. According to her, she had attended a routine rehearsal and was later asked by her boss to stay behind for what she assumed would be a professional conversation.
However, she said the situation quickly turned violent. Instead of a discussion, her boss allegedly attempted to force himself on her. Ajibola explained that she was physically assaulted during the struggle and sustained injuries, including damage to her eyes. As the attack escalated, she said fear for her life eventually caused her to stop resisting.
Ajibola further disclosed that while her attacker intended to rape her, he was unable to proceed because he had become physically exhausted and lost his erection. That unexpected moment, she said, created an opening that allowed her to escape.
Recalling the ordeal, the actress explained that she initially believed she was staying back for a harmless meeting after rehearsal. She said she was beaten and badly hurt, and when the violence became overwhelming, she chose survival over resistance. Fortunately, she noted, her attacker’s physical state ultimately prevented the assault from being completed, enabling her to flee.
