Several Nollywood actors have taken to social media to offer heartfelt prayers following the growing number of deaths within the Nigerian movie industry.
After the passing of Yoruba actress Taiwo Adegbodu, actress Biodun Okeowo shared an emotional message on Instagram, expressing deep concern about how often the industry has been forced to write “Rest In Peace” this year.
According to her, the repeated losses have become overwhelming, prompting her to call on God to put an end to untimely deaths.
In her message, she wrote:
“Oh Lord, the amount of Rest In Peace we have typed this year is enough. God, please put a stop to untimely deaths. May we live long. Amen.”
Her prayer reflects the feelings of many colleagues who have also spoken out while mourning friends and coworkers in the industry.
Actor Rotimi Salami also shared a heartfelt prayer after grieving the loss of a close friend, asking God to prevent such painful losses from happening again in Nollywood.
Similarly, actress Yewande Adekoya posted a touching message praying for healing, comfort, and restoration for those affected by the tragedies.
Popular actor Odunlade Adekola also appealed to God, praying that the door of untimely death in Nollywood would finally be closed.
Meanwhile, actress Eniola Badmus recently urged Nigerians to reject online death wishes and instead promote kindness. Actor Yul Edochie also sparked debate after suggesting that abandoning traditional values could be linked to the rise in sudden deaths.
As tributes continue to pour in for those lost, many fans and colleagues are now uniting in prayer, hoping the wave of tragedy in Nollywood will soon come to an end. 🙏
