Osogbo Local Government Condoles Victims of Saturday's Rainstorm, Sets Up Relief Measures

The leadership of Osogbo Local Government expresses deep sympathy with residents and business owners affected by the devastating rainstorm that struck parts of Osogbo on Saturday, leaving in its wake significant damage to homes, shops and public infrastructure.

In a swift response to the unfortunate incident, the management team of the Council, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Onibonokuta Saheed Mufutau, on Sunday undertook an on-the-spot assessment tour across the affected areas within the town.

The team inspected the extent of the destruction and interacted with victims to better understand their immediate needs.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, who is currently in Abuja attending the APC National Convention, Hon. Badmus Akeem Olaiya conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Council to all those impacted by the windstorm.

He assured residents that the Local Government stands firmly with them during this difficult time and is committed to providing necessary support.

Hon. Olaiya further disclosed that the Council has constituted a committee to assess the damages and recommend practical steps towards alleviating the suffering of affected individuals and families.

As part of immediate response efforts, victims within the coverage of the council have been directed to report to the Osogbo Local Government Secretariat by 10:00 a.m. on Monday with photographic evidence of damaged properties.

This, he explained, is to ensure proper documentation, verification, and profiling for the purpose of delivering targeted assistance as a responsible government which places premium on the welfare of the people it governs.

The Osogbo Local Government reiterates its commitment to the welfare and safety of all residents and calls for calm and cooperation as efforts are intensified to bring relief to those affected.

The Council also urges members of the public to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions, especially during extreme weather conditions.

Signed:

Hon Saheed Onibonokuta Mufutau

Executive Chairman, Osogbo Local Government
