Seyi Tinubu has dismissed allegations of any wrongdoing in his interaction with a woman identified as Mitchy, stating that his involvement was limited to a public meeting and financial support for her non-governmental organisation (NGO).
In a statement addressing the controversy, Tinubu said he met Mitchy once in a public setting alongside others, where he made a donation toward her NGO’s activities. He noted that he has similarly supported many young Nigerians and organisations focused on empowering communities.
According to him, a follow-up meeting had been scheduled to provide updates on the impact of the donation, but the meeting did not take place due to his health challenges at the time.
“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” Tinubu said, expressing concern that an unrelated feud had been used to draw his name into what he described as an unfounded narrative.
He further alleged that social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) was seeking an opportunity to damage his reputation and had seized on the situation to do so.
Tinubu maintained that supporting charitable causes should not be misconstrued as misconduct and rejected what he described as attempts at bullying.
“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts. Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal,” he said, adding that he would not be intimidated or pressured by false claims.
He concluded by reiterating his stance against bullying, saying he understands the harm it can cause and would continue to stand firmly against it.
