To Our Wedding and Beat Me On My Wedding Day For Not Packing Plates - Okoro

Blessing Okoro, widely recognized as Blessing CEO, has revealed that her marriage ended due to repeated incidents of domestic abuse.

Speaking during an interview on With Chude, she recounted disturbing experiences from the early stages of her relationship, including events that occurred just before and on her wedding day. According to her, the situation escalated into physical violence shortly before the ceremony and continued even as preparations for the wedding were underway.
She explained that her former husband assaulted her a day before the wedding and again on the day itself while they were getting ready to leave for the church. Blessing added that one particular incident was triggered by a minor issue involving household chores, specifically her failure to pack plates. She emphasized that the abuse was not hidden, noting that several people, including her chief bridesmaid and close friends, witnessed what happened and can still confirm her account.
Recounting the experience in her own words, she said: "On my wedding day they beat me to the altar. They beat me a day to the wedding and even beat me to the altar and I still married him (sic). He beat me in front of my chief bridesmaid, they are still there. When I tell this story and people say it is a lie she will just be laughing. He didn't beat me privately, he beat me in front of my friends because I did not pack plates"

Her statement sheds light on the severity of the abuse she endured and highlights how such incidents can occur even in the presence of witnesses. Blessing’s account also reflects the complex realities many individuals face in abusive relationships, where societal pressure or personal circumstances may lead them to proceed with major life decisions despite clear warning signs.
