According to a report by ChannelsTelevision on Monday 13th April 2026, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed April 14 to hear an appeal by David Mark over the protracted leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mark, who leads a faction of the party, is contesting the legitimacy of a rival leadership headed by Nafiu Bala, His appeal seeks to suspend the enforcement of a Court of Appeal ruling delivered in March 2025 until the Supreme Court determines the substantive case.
Through his lawyer, Realwan Okpanachi, the former Senate President is also asking the court to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing any changes to the party’s leadership structure.
He further requested that proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja be put on hold, pending the outcome of the appeal.
The ADC has been embroiled in an internal power struggle, with parallel leadership claims creating uncertainty within the party; The dispute deepened following INEC’s decision to delist Mark as national chairman in its official records.
