In a recent interview aired on Channels Television, former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, raised critical questions regarding the ongoing legal dispute involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during the interview, Wike challenged the narrative surrounding the party’s decision to escalate its case to the Supreme Court. He specifically questioned the basis of the appeal, stating, "What is the judgment that the Court of Appeal gave that made the ADC appeal to the Supreme Court?"
Wike argued that for any party to proceed to the apex court, there must have been a clear and unfavorable judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal. According to him, appeals are typically filed when a party is dissatisfied with a ruling that directly affects its position.
He further suggested that Nigerians deserve transparency in understanding the legal steps taken by political parties, especially in matters that could influence internal party stability and the broader political landscape. Wike emphasized that if the Court of Appeal’s decision was not adverse, then the rationale behind seeking further legal redress should be properly explained to the public.
