In a renewed effort to promote grassroots sports development in Osun State, the Executive Director of Marine and Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Hon. Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus, FNSE, in collaboration with the Chairman of Osogbo South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Bolanle Jimoh, has distributed customized football kits and equipment to Jaleyemi Football team in Osogbo.
The items branded AMBO jerseys, footballs, and goal nets were officially presented on Sunday morning, May 3, 2026, at the Girls School football pitch in Osogbo, where members of the beneficiary team gathered to receive the donation. Engr. Olalekan Abdulrahman Badmus and Hon. Bolanle Jimoh was represented at the event by Hon. Kola Were.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Kola Were explained that the initiative was in fulfillment of a prior commitment made by Engr. Badmus and Hon. Jimoh to support grassroots sports development. He noted that the gesture reflects a broader vision to empower young athletes and strengthen sports infrastructure at the community level.
He further highlighted the alignment of this initiative with the aspirations of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026 election, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji. According to him, the party remains committed to advancing sports development as part of its governance agenda. He encouraged sports enthusiasts and residents across the state to support Oyebamiji’s candidacy.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Chairman of Jaleyemi FC, Mr. Ganiyu Afeez, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Engr. Badmus and Hon. Jimoh for honoring their promise. He described the donation as a meaningful investment in youth development and a demonstration of genuine commitment to sports growth in the state.
Mr. Afeez also noted that the gesture reinforces confidence in the developmental plans of the APC governorship candidate, urging sports lovers and residents to rally behind him in the upcoming election. He assured the donors of the team’s continued support and commitment.
Similarly, a team leader, Mr. Olabiyi Wasiu, commended the donors for their consistency and reliability in fulfilling their pledge. He affirmed that the team would reciprocate the goodwill through their support in the forthcoming election, emphasizing their readiness to stand behind the AMBO initiative.
The event also witnessed Ball raising competition where 1st, 2nd and 3rd position were given cash and gifts while 4th position go home with gift.
